Flash RPG Tower Defense

"Just OK"

date: August 4, 2007

I wouldn't have recommended creating a game like this, as it is just a knock off of the much more popular and better looking game Shock Defense. If you are going to make a Flash, try doing something more unique and innovative. However, I did notice how you tried adding some new game modes, so nice thinking there. The tower graphics looked like you cut them out from MS Paint, and I feel you could have put some more effort into the technical aspects of the game, including sound and appearance.

Author's Response:

Hi, I don't agree that creating any game in any genre is a knockoff of the first game that created the genre. I create games that I have an interest in, what fun is it to program a game that you wouldn't want to play yourself? Also, this is the only TD that I know of that allows both path modes, and non-path modes. Usually it is one or the other. Also, the artist that was supposed to work with me on this project has given me 0 artwork so what you see is called programmer art :) all of it. For version 1.5 I am looking for a few new artists to help me out. As for sound, I wanted to keep the file size as small as possible, so I just added a button click sound so you knew when you clicked on something. Thanks,

Bobby

The Selected Few

"Mediocre"

submission: The Selected Few

Not too good, but not the worst I've ever seen. The major turnoffs for me were the lack of a single player mode, only three attacks, and weird sound effects. However, I do suppose certain people could enjoy a game like this a couple times through, but I'm just not one of them.

This is the game "Kill Bob". "Kill Bob" just killed the entire concept of stick animation.

Blam "Kill Bob" for
doing that to the entire concept of stick animation.

P.S. I'd rather kill bill.

B

"Yes!"

submission: B
date: April 19, 2006

StrawBerry clock, my king, what an exemplary piece of artwork. This has got to be one of the best Flash creations of all time, if not THE best Flash. It's beauty is truly lies in it's simplicity.

There are Flash animators who will sit down, and think hour upon hour trying coming with great ideas for a Flash movie. Then, they spend moths writing it, making it, and perfecting it. Chances are, their work won’t even come close to the magic that is "B." That is amazing, my king.

I know that You despise the following in which other people and clocks have made for You. If I were You, I would live it out. Clock Crew is truly something amazing, and You and "B." are everything that it stands for. I wish You would come back to Newgrounds, my king, and make some more of Your great Flash. For God's sake, thousands of people address You as their king. That's more than a lot of real kings even receive (with all due respect, not that You aren't a real king.)

Anyway, I may not be able to become a real member of the Clock Crew, because my Flash talents surely do not surpass Your own, but I sure hope someday I shall become one. If You are reading this, my king, I thank You for your time. Please come back to Newgrounds and live out the dream You once started for Yourself. People will be happy. You are the king of the portal, and nobody can deny You that right. Afterall, there is a holiday created in Your honor. I sure wish I was as talented as You are.

I have another screen name here on Newgrounds by the name of LavaLampClock. It would be an honor and a privilege to speak with You, my king. So, my king, I beg of You, please come back to Newgrounds and make more Flash (possibly even a sequel to B?).

I am writing such a long review because I feel it is my duty as a clockfriend to do so. I hope that this review will be enough to make up for the hours of hard work that You put into "B." I probably won't be, but it is the best that I can do for You, my king.

It is really hard to explain, You. I really hope that you realize how much of an impact You have caused upon other's lives. Your work has inspired thousands young and old to B who they want to B, and not worry. Great work.

There are thousands of people waiting for You. B who You are. You are the king. You can drive. Drive to the young hopefuls who look up to who You are. We are waiting for You.

A Clock Fight

"Nice job..."

submission: A Clock Fight
date: April 19, 2006

Hey this was pretty cool. I liked all of your special effects and glows and stuff. I wanted to know if you could help me out...how do you make the clock face move so smoothly and naturally? If you could help me, that'd be great, thanks. Good job on this.

Author's Response:

Using motion tween (or shape, whichever), go into the properties menu, and look for the little part that says 'ease'. Click on the drop down box, and slide it to either -100 IN or 100 Out (might be 100 IN -100 OUT I forgot), and practise using easing, and that'll help alot =)

I also used 36 fps, which is nice on the eye, and easy to work with.

Going Down to Newgrounds

"Great Job!"

date: April 18, 2006

Hey this was really cool. I liked the song and the animation that went with it so perfectly. Hey, look, I'm sorry about what happened before. I usually don't bother to see what other kind of Flash an author has made after I view one. I just review from what I see. You are a really great Flash artist, and I was wrong to write what I did before I saw what you really had up your sleeve. Anyway, you did a great job on this one (as well as many others) and I hope we are cool now. Are we?

Author's Response:

Look, i can't remain mad at someone forever (apart from the fact that i just don't waste my energy getting mad. I just hit back).

It's over now. By the way... If you're interested in seeing how good you've gotten in flash animation, how about joining our "When Farm Animals Attack" collab?

Search the Flash forums or give us a yell at this email address:

white_sonic_8@hotmail.com

If you've got potential you might just be one of the four people who gets the honour of being a co-author (this can really help your batting average, as well as give you a head start).

Mind you that we're very dedicated in there and the animation standard has been set to a fairly high level. only join if you can fulfill the requirements listed on the thread.

Hope you can join us, either now or some other time. 'Till then, catch.

Behind the Magic

Dude, fucking chill out. I was giving you constructive criticism. Why the fuck would you even put something on Newgrounds that you hate? It wasn't my fault, I was just giving you a fucking review on the bad shit I saw that you made. Anyway, I liked this. Why did you have to be so fucking mean?
Loser.

Author's Response:

Listen to me and i'll say this for the last time.

That submission was one of my biggest mistakes and i wanted it blammed. I wanted to get rid of it. You think it's that easy to get rid of it? Specially with morons like you who don't bother to read the small print that says "i want this removed"?

I don't need "constructive criticism" on something that i want to forget. I just want your zero for that cartoon, full stop. Nothing else i asked for. Not your pathetic comments.

"don't waste your time making flash movies that you know sucked" is NOT constructive criticism. It's your pathetic attempt to make me look bad. So please don't act like you were "innocently trying to give me some feedback", because what you wrote shows otherwise.

Your intentions were malicious, when all i wanted was for that movie to be removed from the portal. You just didn't want to miss the occasion to rub it in.

Don't review another one of my films using this pathetic argument as an excuse. Only proves that you've got nothing else to fall back on...

The reason i lashed out at you was because instead of just giving that film a zero (like i explicitly asked the public to do) you decided that on top of that you just HAD to run your mouth. And over what? Over a piece of animated prose that i didn't give a shit about anymore?

I have progressed in cartooning and i don't need someone who doesn't even fucking know me to tell me "not to waste my time making films that i know are crap". You think i wouldn't know that by now?

I get your kind of shit from all angles already. I don't need another constant comebacker who reviews all of my films with the intent to prove me wrong...

LL - Art Unappreciation

"Amazing!"

date: April 14, 2006

This animation was awesome. It had great graphics, a really cool plot, perfect length & style, and the sound quality was nice. This was one of the very first animations I ever saw on Newgrounds, and it deserves to stay here forever. This was one of my first inspirations to really get into the Flash game and animation "business", so thank you for that.

This was was really humorous, too, with all of the droppings of the "F" bomb and the orc porn at the very end. I am a huge fan of all of your art and animations. I really hope you keep bringing the awsomeness to Newgrounds because it really wouldn't be the same with out Wonchop : )

Anyways, great job on this one (sorry, I really should have given it an earlier review) and keep up the fantastic work. See ya around, bud.

-Knyte

Great work on this tutorial! It is very, very useful. It was clear and easy to understand (I know that that's one of your strongpoints). It was well written, and this is a tutorial to go down into the books! Amazing job on this tutorial, and I look forward to seeing your next one (and the Tekken Game you plan to release sometime)!

Brink of Alienation: Sub

"It was pretty good."

date: April 12, 2006

This flash was pretty good. I don't know whether or not I can call it a game or a movie because it only had one level, and the rest of it was all cut scenes (I think). However, the graphics and style were one of the best I have ever seen.

Your sound was good for the most part, but when I killed the terrorists, the death moans sounded weird. Also, I would have liked to see a lot more interactivity and maybe you could have added a little humor to this, but not so much as to completely ruining the mood.

This was a nice piece of work, and that is why it deserves in-depth reviews. The whole comic feel you gave to it really added to the whole experience. Overall, I saw good work on your part. Just try to improve on the categories I explained, and it will be excellent.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the good review! We'll try and make episode 2 better!
